Dundalk looking up
Dundalk striker Ger Rowe believes the Lilywhites are just a few victories away from challenging for a European place.

The Lilywhites are currently second from bottom in the Premier Division but so close is the middle of the table that they are just five points off fourth place.

Rowe wants Dundalk to follow the example of Shamrock Rovers, who won the First Division in 2006 and are now firmly re-established as a top flight club.

Rowe was part of the Rovers team that won promotion back to the top flight and he believes Dundalk have the ability to follow the Hoops' lead.

"With Rovers, we had a bit of a better start than Dundalk, but there's a lot more quality here," he said. "There's no reason why we can't finish fifth or why we can't finish fourth. It just means getting a couple of wins under our belts and putting a run together."

Dundalk take on Galway United tonight and manager Sean Connor knows that they need to start picking-up points off the clubs near to them in the league table.

"We need to start picking up points against the teams around us and I'd be looking at a target of 14 points for these games," said Connor ahead of tonight's vital clash.
