O'Callaghan targets derby win |
|
George O'Callaghan goes into Friday night's Louth derby against Drogheda United desperte to help Dundalk to local bragging rights.
Dundalk host Drogheda United in an eagerly awaited derby match, the first league meeting of the sides in several seasons.
"We are looking forward to the Drogheda match," said O'Callaghan. "It’s a big game for both teams. Being a local derby adds an extra-spice to the occasion. It’s very early days. We need some time to settle and once that happens that fans will see what we are about. It was disappointing for the fans last Friday night because we let ourselves down. We are a lot better side than that. All we can do is now win on Friday night for the fans and score a few goals."
His Dundalk team-mate Harpal Singh is also looking forward to Friday night's derby match.
“The rivalry between the two clubs and the two sets of supporters is massive," he said. "We are all aware of that. We have to treat it like an ordinary game, stay focused and concentrate on getting the three points. There is a great atmosphere in the dressing room. We are a tight unit. We all believe that we are good team. Weare a small squad but there is plenty of quality. We want to get things right on the pitch quickly because everything off the field is great here.”
