Ian Foster was appointed manager ofDundalk prior to the 2010 season, having been in charge of Galway United the previous season.

The youngest manager in the Premier Division, Foster originally moved to the Airtricity League as assistant to Jeff Kenna at Galway United, playing a vital role in saving the club from relegation during the 2008 season.

During his playing career, Foster had spells with Kidderminster Harriers, Liverpool, Chester City and Hereford.

A former England schoolboy international, Foster scored 50 goals in 170 appearances for Harriers.
