Williams signs for Drogheda
Friday, 13 February 2009 11:39

Drogheda United Manager Alan Mathews has wasted no time in making goalkeeper Steve Williams his first signing of the season.

Williams has represented Wales at Under-15, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level.

Williams started his career at Coventry before moving to Cardiff City. He played with Shelbourne in 1999-2000 and was a major player in their double success that season - having kept seventeen clean sheets. He has also had spells with Dundalk and Bray Wanderers.

Speaking to DroghedaUnited.ie, Matthews appeared pleased with his first signing, saying: 'Steve is an experienced goalkeeper and experience is something that we will need in abundance as we assemble a squad for the new season.'

Mathews will continue his search for new players in the days and weeks ahead.
