Monday, 09 February 2009 20:49

Mathews Appointed Drogheda BossDrogheda United have appointed Alan Mathews as first team manager. The former Cork City manager will take charge of the Boynesiders for the 2009 season.

The appointment sees Mathews trade places with Paul Doolin, who earlier this month left his post as Drogheda United manager to replace Mathews as Cork City boss.

Mathews was in charge of the Leesiders for one season, following a long and successful spell with Longford Town. He will now begin the process of preparing Drogheda, who only recently emerged from examinership, for the new campaign.
