Joxer ready for Drogs revolution
Friday, 06 March 2009 11:15

John Paul Kelly wants to help Drogheda United re-establish themselves in the Premier Division - starting with tonight's trip to the Brandywell to face Derry City.

The tricky winger joined the Boynesiders over the winter break after four years with Bohemians. New manager Alan Mathews has assembled a new squad at Drogheda and Kelly will have a key role to play.

"This is definitely a new start," he said. "Alan hasn't had much time to put things together but he'll build. The players want to build as well, managers can't be miracle workers. We won't know how we're going, even after the Derry game. It's a tough one but we'll go there believing we can do well. We're looking forward to it.

"I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I'm going to go out and enjoy my football and work hard. I have no regrets. I had four great years at Bohs and the last one was unbelievable. I'll be watching their results on Friday night and hoping they go well again."
