Drogs and Boylesports get their ducks in a row
Friday, 27 February 2009 19:25

The Boylesports Drogheda United Duck Derby takes place this Saturday, 28th February at 2p.m.

5,000 ducks will be launched into the river Boyne at Dominic Bridge Drogheda and will make their way down the river to De Lacy bridge at Scotch Hall where the first duck crossing the line will win its sponsor a holiday for four in the Porta Ventura holiday resort in Spain, kindly donated by Panorama Holidays.

This initiative is the brainchild of a group of “quacked” Drogheda United FC supporters and is just one of the latest fundraising ideas designed to put a feather in the cap of the Drogs after their successful survival of examinership 3 weeks ago. It’s very much a case of water off a duck’s back for Drogheda United.

Under the capable leadership of newly-appointed Manager, Alan Mathews, Drogheda United look set to catapult themselves back to their former glory and recent events have proven just how strong the fan base and community goodwill is for this club.

Ducks cost 5 Euro and are available for purchase in the Drogheda United clubhouse at United Park, Windmill Lane or on www.drogsduckderby.com.
