Derry hitman back amongst the goals

After scoring twice in the win over Sligo Rovers, striker Mark Farren is delighted to be back scoring for Derry City.

The brace that he fired in on Tuesday evening in The Showgrounds ended a barron spell in front of goal for last year's golden boot winner and he hopes to kick on from it.

Farren will be back at the same venue on Friday to face Sligo in the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup and his sights are locked on finding the back of the net again.

"Obviously, I'm delighted to have scored a few goals, but it was even better that we got the win," said Farren.

"I was just glad to get on and score a few goals. I'll take the two goals, after not scoring in a while.

"In the last few matches I wasn't getting any opportunities falling for me, but on Tuesday night the chances fell my way and I have put them away.

"I have to admit that I didn't feel under pressure or anything like that, I was a little bit worried whenever I wasn't getting any chances. That is always frustrating for a striker.

"Hopefully now those two goals will be the start of a wee run for me."
