Murray delighted with top spot

Cork City skipper Dan Murray is delighted to be sitting on top of the table and has hailed his teammates for their start to the season.

The Leesiders are three points clear of Bohemians at the top of the Premier Division table and last weekend it was Murray's goal that gave the Rebel Army a vital 1-0 win over Derry City.

Having brought in a new manager and several new players pre-season, Murray says that the team has gelled faster than anybody expected.

"When we sat down as a team at the start of the season we believed that Bohs and Derry would probably be the two other strongest teams in the league, and that Shamrock Rovers would be a tough team to beat, especially at home," he said. "It's turned out pretty much as we expected, although even we didn't think we would start as well as we have.

"It's going well, so far so good. After a sticky few games at the start of the year we've gone on a very good run. It's been good, confidence is high in the camp and we're looking forward to the next game."
