| Consistency the key for Rebel Army |
With one quarter of the season under their belts Cork City believe they could bring silverware back to Turner's Cross, but only if they remain consistent. ![]() The Rebel Army are currently second in the league table and go into tonight's home match against Sligo Rovers just three points behind league leaders Bohemians, who are in action against Dundalk. Doolin says that his squad is capable of capturing silverware this season, but only if they can maintain their current form over the course of what will be a long season. "We are now a quarter of the way through the season, and while there is still a long way to go, I feel we are doing well," he said. "I think everyone knows that if you want to challenge for honours, then you have to be consistent, and at the moment, we are showing good consistency.” Cork City were held to a draw by Sligo Rovers on the opening night of the season and Doolin will be eager to exact revenge on the Bit O' Red for denying his side three points on that occasion. However, with Sligo having recently taken four points against Derry City and Bohemians, Doolin knows that the visitors are more than capable of upsetting the top teams. “In recent weeks they have had some excellent results, including a win at the Brandywell and a draw with Bohs, so they will be tough opponents," he said. “I think the fact that we are missing a number of players through injury, it gives us a chance to change things around within the limits of our squad. We have some fine young players at the club, but this league is very demanding physically and I have to strike a balance between giving a young player a chance and risking not getting the result we need." |
