| Doolin praises Rebel team ethic |
|
Cork City host Galway United looking to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches. Manager Paul Doolin says that the key to the team's form has been their improved team work. Doolin took charge of Cork City prior to the start of the season and he says that while the club had plenty of individual talent, the players were not working as a team. "I felt after our first pre-season game that we were playing as individuals rather than as a team, but the players are working well and I think we are becoming more of a unit," said Doolin. "I think it will take time for us to gel fully, but we are moving in the right direction and the main thing is to build on what we have done already. We’ve been on a good run, but we’re not getting carried away as the important thing is that we develop consistency.” Stephen O’Donnell (knee) and Neal Horgan (elbow) remain sidelined, while Robert Mezeckis (Achilles) and Davin O’ Neill (ankle) are both struggling and look unlikely to be available. Despite their good run of form, Doolin knows that Galway will provide tough opposition for his side. “We faced Galway in a pre-season friendly and I thought that they were a decent side," he said. "They may have surprised some people with their good start to the season, but they performed well against us in that game and I am sure they will prove to be difficult opponents again here tonight. I believe we have improved since our encounter in pre-season, and regardless of who our opponents are, we will want to win our home games.” |
