| Doolin not under-estimating Kerry League |
|
Cork City take on Kerry League for a place in the Second Round of the EA SPORTS Cup, and manager Paul Doolin is not under-estimating his opposition. “I don’t know too much about the Kerry League," he said. "But there are several players who have come through from the Kerry League, such as Billy Dennehy, so there are obviously talented players there and I expect it to be a tough game, but hopefully we can get the result we need. With the amount of travelling we have at the moment, I would hope to be able to give a game to some of the players who have not played yet, but we will have a strong side out.” Davin O’Neill was taken off in Friday’s draw away to Shamrock Rovers with an ankle injury and, along with long term absentee Stephen O’Donnell, he will not feature. Robert Mezeckis is expected to feature in the game at some point, having returned to training this week. While he likely to make changes, Doolin says he will not be taking the competition lightly: “The League Cup gives you a chance of getting into the Setanta Cup, so I think it is important that we look to progress in the competition, and we will be looking to win it. There are four trophies available to us, and we would like to think we can do well in all of them. Also, I don’t think you can decide which matches are important and which ones are less so; you can’t just switch on and off.” |
