CORK CITY have signed French midfielder Vincent Escudé-Candau.
The 25-year-old joined the club on trial at the beginning of February, having played for Sligo Rovers in a friendly fixture against Finn Harps, and scored for Cork in the friendly defeat to Shamrock Rovers. Cork City manager Tommy Dunne told corkcityfc.net: “Vincent came in on trial and did well both in training and in the game against Shamrock Rovers. He’s a fit lad, and he has good technical ability, and his signing gives us another option in the middle of the park. "He hasn’t played in this league before, but I am hoping that he settles in well now and I think he will be a useful addition to the squad.” Escudé-Candau, who previously played for Aviron Bayonnais, Ajaccio and Lens, is looking forward to experiencing Irish football. He said: “Romauld Boco at Sligo is a good friend of mine, and he recommended the Airtricity League to me. "He told me that there are good teams here and there is a good atmosphere at games, and that Ireland was a good country to play in. I came to Cork City to train, and I really enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to the season. It is a new challenge for me, and my ambition is to get into the team and keep improving all the time.” |
